This position oversees the daily operation of the Human Resources function for all City of Dalton departments and associated authorities, commissions, etc. To ensure legal compliance with all local, state and federal laws as they relate to Human Resources. To keep the City current with respect to benefits, compensation and other areas that affect employees. Maintain and oversee property and liability insurance and claims citywide. The Human Resources Director is the primary coordinator of the health plan and employee benefit programs for the City. This position is responsible for coordinating orientation, human resources training, and engagement opportunities for employees throughout the organization.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university (Master’s degree preferred).
At least 5-7 years progressive experience as a human resources generalist, preferably in a public sector environment.
SHRM-CP and/or PHR national certification (SHRM-SCP and/or SPHR certification(s) preferred).
